Another must visit is the ruins of the ancient Agora or the marketplace in the old Athens. The Marketplace was one of the most important places. The architecture of the museum building is also superb.
However, even though Athens is such a historical destination, this is not all. If you are not fond of history, Athens definitely has no dearth of modern day attractions. You can head over to the main square of the city, which is where most of the action is. There are bars, hotels, shops, restaurants and more. The square has some superb gardens to its north and south, and these gardens have so e superb cafes with a great ambience. The square is also not far from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Greek Parliament.
Kolonaki District is not far from Syntagma Square, and is a great destination for shoppers. There are boutiques, designer stores and more. The district is also famous for its superb dining options. It is known as among the most affluent suburbs in the city.
Monastiraki has a flea market that is popularly visited by tourists. There are some great bargains available for souvenirs to take home.
